We are happy to say that we've booked a show. I'm sure many of you have
noticed that we haven't been quite as active as we usually are and there
is a very good reason for that, Nathan and Rebecca are awaiting a new
arrival to the Rowan homestead. As such we've been taking it easy, and
this show will not be our last, but likely our last for a little while,
all the more reason for you to make the trek to Granville Island to see
us.
details: July 23 Friday @ the Backstage Lounge, Granville Island. Cover
$5-$6. Doors @ 9:30. Show @ 10pm.

This is very much-belated news (at least it was to us) that Maplewood Lane
won the Georgia Straight's 2004 Readers Choice Music Awards for Best Dressed
Band. When we told Jon Anderson about this, he said, "Well, if you'd
gone to the [Anniedale] forum in the last 3 weeks you would have already
known that." So this is a reminder to all you boys and girls to check
out Jon's awesome Anniedale forum where you can talk about pretty much anything
you want. On a crummy note, we didn't get the factor grant we were hoping
for. However, to finish up on a high note, we have been very busy in the
studio and are just wrapping up production at the fabulous hidden jewel,
Buena Vista Audio, burried deep in the heart of Langley. Looks like we'll
release this chunk of new songs as an EP, but we'll see, we'll see.

If you've noticed we don't update our news that often, it's not because
we're really boring people and have nothing to say. In fact quite the opposite
is true. We are all too ridiculously busy to take the time to do so. Here's
a quick update. 3/5 (Joel, Rebecca and Nathan) of our band just returned
from a little jaunt to T.O. to visit family. Joel is finishing mastering
some solo stuff (but we're not breaking up despite any nasty rumours you're
heard!!) Alana got a job teaching little kids to play various band instruments.
Ryan is busy with his hordes of guitar students. Rebecca and Nathan are
getting ready to move into their first townhouse and that's about all you
need to (or don't need to) know. Oh, and in regards to the band we've been
writing new material and have just submitted a grant application to factor
requesting funding for a music video. We'll keep you posted on the results.
